Love sweet honey! If you like desserts, fruits, & never had Asian style dessert, should come here! There's a variety to choose from. My mango sago was a bit sour this time. You order through phone, then it comes out super fast in to go containers. My mom loves their mango pancakes, so that's a must.
We walked over from Darda a couple doors down after dinner because I was craving hot sesame. They have a very extensive menu of all their dessert offerings pasted on the wall (with pictures!), but you'll need to scan the barcode on their dine in tables to check pricing. We opted for dine in and ordered at the cash register. Sesame & red bean soup with glutinous rice balls ($7.95): I was surprised our order came in a takeout bowl as dine in customers. A little bit of a let down in terms of the experience especially after we've enjoyed their dessert in their fun yellow bowls before at another Sweethoney location. My first thought was "did someone not wanna do the dishes?" Lol. The soup itself was delicious and still hot, though it was definitely 70% red bean, 30% sesame. :( The sesame rice balls were soft and tasty. It was okay for what I wanted, and I'll likely be back if I'm looking for a tofu pudding, grass jelly, or coconut milk dessert. I won't be coming here for boba though with all the other boba options in this plaza that are walking distance (like Yifang or Gongcha).
Original Hong Kong eggettes: freshly made with v yummy crispy edges, a little on the sweeter side imo but my S.O. really liked it Mango pomelo sago tofu pudding: not the prettiest presentation but tasted good, there were only a few bits of pomelo on top but the mango chunks made up for it, the tofu pudding not as silky as some other places, overall a refreshing combo of sago and mango puree
I recently had the pleasure of visiting this delightful dessert place. The ambiance was inviting, the service was impeccable, but it was the unique flavor of the grass jelly shave ice that left a lasting impression. Twins Snow Mountain Grass Jelly - a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The grass jelly itself had a subtle herbal undertone that added depth to the overall taste. The shave ice was finely shaved, creating a light and fluffy texture that melted in your mouth with each spoonful. Thai Black Glutinous rice and mango with vanilla frost - Unfortunately, the mango provided in this was unripe, which affected the overall experience. The unripened mango had a hard consistency and an overly sour taste, affecting the delicate flavors of the shave ice. However, don't let the mango mishap deter you from trying other items on the menu. The grass jelly shave ice is a true gem and a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth. The menu offers a variety of other flavors, and I'm confident that the quality and attention to detail will shine through in each dish. This dessert place has overall earned its spot as one of my favorites for the incredible grass jelly shave ice alone. Just be mindful of the mango selection, and you're in for a sweet treat that will leave your taste buds dancing with joy!
Is it true that this Sweethoney has closed? If so, I'm very sad. After the fire and closing at the San Leandro branch, this has been the other Sweethoney I would go to. It's a nice dessert place that is right by Darda Seafood, and such a convenient location for Asian dessert cravings. I loved and will miss this Sweethoney! One of my favorite menu items were the sesame balls in sweet ginger soup. Perfect for a cold winter evening. This place got packed with the post-dinner rush, so it was always nice to come here after enjoying dinner with friends and family. Thanks for all your years here, Sweethoney.
